Information for international students
Entry to the UK
Do not travel to the UK without the necessary visa or prior entry clearance. Ensure you carry all the appropriate documentation in your hand luggage.
Please be aware that it is illegal for travellers to bring certain foods including all meat and meat products, and milk and dairy products, plus some fish and plant products, into the UK from non-EU countries. If you break the rules, you could risk long delays at Customs, and, depending on how serious the offence is, prosecution and a fine or even imprisonment. Further information is available from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
Registration with the police
Students from a limited number of countries are required to register with the police on arrival in the UK. If you are required to do so, this will be clearly stamped in your passport. Further information is available from the Home Office website.
