2008 - 2009 Meetings
Remote labs and simulations
New technologies can enable learning activities that would be difficult or impossible for students to carry out physically, on campus. We can simulate safety-critical or extreme environments, enable virtual fieldwork and laboratory experiments at a distance, and let students play out roles in dynamic virtual environments.
- Ben Hanson described work with engineering students at UCL and Leeds using remote laboratories.
- Tony Gardner-Medwin demonstrated simulations for teaching Physiology, Maths and Statistics, using Labview.
- Dr. Pasquale Berlingieri discussed the use of simulators to train surgeons before they operate on patients.
