Using a Personal Response System - What Works and What Doesn't
For the last year, colleagues from Physics and Astronomy and the LTSS have been
trialling the TurningPoint
Personal Response System (aka an 'Ask The Audience' system) for formative assessment,
and to engage students in active learning in lectures and seminars. Students are
given handheld voting pads which enable them to vote during interactive PowerPoint presentations, giving both them and their tutors instant feedback on
their performance. Come and see how colleagues in over nine departments across
four faculties have used the system, and discuss with these intrepid innovators
what works and what doesn't - and help us create a 'Best Practice
cribsheet'.
