Programme for 2010-2011
Tools for the 21st century teacher
Fiona Strawbridge, Learning Technology Support Service

There is an expectation now that all teachers and students will engage with e-learning and we are already seeing widespread use of Moodle to support courses. In many cases Moodle is being used to provide access to lecture materials, readings and other information - much appreciated by students of course - but not always promoting real engagement and deeper learning. This session will outline some of the components of a more effective learning experience, and suggest how some tools - both online and classroom-based - which are readily available at UCL can play a part. It should be of interest to all teaching staff but is aimed particularly at those who are new to teaching, or to the use of technology in teaching.
