Conference Calls
Internal Telephone Conferences
A limited number of Conference Telephone Handsets are available for loan from the Customer Service Centre. Please call 100 to book a handset with as much notice as possible. Please note: These units are signed for and collected from the Service Centre on a 'first come, first served' basis.
These handsets are useful when a group of people are gathered in one room and wish to hold a conference when dialling out to one external party. The Conference Telephone can be plugged into an existing live telephone socket which has dialling facilities enabled.
Conference calls involving only one external party and any number of parties within UCL are easy to set up on your own telephone, and cost nothing other than a single phone call to an external party.
It is assumed that you are organising the conference.
- Call the first conference party (whether internal or external).
- When they are on the line ask them to hold.
- Press recall [R], and call the second party. When they are on the line ask them to hold.
- Press recall [R] [*] [4]. All three parties are now in conference and can speak together.
- To add a fourth party repeat the procedure. Press [R], dial the fourth party, then again key [R] [*] [4] and all parties are in conference.
External Telephone Conferences
If you need to have a conference call with two or more external parties, we can arrange this for you using a commercial conference call service. Conferences can include any number of parties and none of the telephone numbers need be at UCL, if for example you wish to have a conference in the evening from your home. For advice and information contact Sue Moody on extension 31391 or email s.moody@ucl.ac.uk.
