Research Fellow in Immunology vacancy (based in Brighton)

11 November 2017

Our friends at the Department of Global Health and Infection at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) are looking for an experienced post-doctoral research scientist to help unravel the immunological basis of podoconiosis, a form of leg swelling often seen in barefoot farmers.  This progressive and disabling condition is caused by irritant volcanic soil particles that trigger inflammation in genetically-predisposed individuals.

The successful applicant will:

Have a PhD or equivalent experience in immunology

Have proven expertise in a wide range of immunological techniques

Have the ability to work as part of a inter-disciplinary international team and be willing to undertake part of the research in Ethiopia.
