UCL-TB is pleased to announce that Helen Jenkins will giving the first tuberculosis seminar of 2016. The title is "Counting sick children: Estimating the global burden of childhood tuberculosis."

Childhood tuberculosis (TB) has traditionally been neglected because children are believed to be less likely to contribute to transmission and because paediatric tuberculosis is difficult to diagnose. As a result, we have a poor understanding of how many children develop this disease worldwide each year, how many are suffering from drug-resistant disease and how many die from TB. Dr Jenkins will describe why such basic statistics are difficult to estimate and explain recent developments in this area and why they are important to reduce morbidity and mortality in children with TB.

You can book a ticket for Helen's seminar through Evenbrite here.

This seminar will be followed, after a short break, by the North London TB Journal Club presented by Patrick Djomo of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. You can book a ticket for Patrick's talk here. Please feel free to join us afterwards for a drink a the Marlborough Pub just down the road.
