TARDIS: Tracking Activity in Relation To DISease

Most adults in the UK have a mobile phone. In 2011, 35% of mobile phone users held a smartphone device. In 2013, this number has increased to 61%.

Smartphones can be used as powerful data collection tool for gathering research data that supporting clinical decision making.

The TARDIS study is an innovative project whose aim is to demonstrate the efficacy of using patient-held devices to gather clinical and epidemiological data.

A novel approach to data collection

Collaborating together, researchers, doctors and software experts have devised a proof-of-concept smartphone app to study gastro-oesophagel reflux (GOR).

Working with parents and patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital, we are testing the feasibility, utility and efficacy of using apps to enable parents and improve clinical and research understanding of disease.
