Learning Objectives at CSH

The Centre for Sustainable Heritage’s learning and teaching activities aim to fulfil the following criteria:


  • Innovation
  • Interdisciplinanity

  • Smooth transaction between the workplace and the classroom

CSH staff and associates are actively involved in teaching, providing professional support and contributing with financial resources in order to meet the objectives described in the Centre’s learning and teaching strategy.


CSH Learning and Teaching Strategy


Learning and teaching forms an essential part of the Centre’s activities and has done so since its inception. An important part of the Centre’s activities are its flagship postgraduate Masters Programme in Sustainable Heritage, Short Courses and Guest Lectures, aiming to widen participation in learning.


  • Contribute to teaching excellence at UCL by focussing on interdisciplinary learning and
  • Disseminate the results of academic research through teaching
  • Explore innovative pedagogies and technologies to support self-directed learning and face-to-face teaching
  • Ensure courses are academically sound, interesting and relevant to professional practice
  • Develop and sustain teaching collaboration with external partners
  • Provide the means for other UCL departments to contribute to teaching
  • Contribute to new research ideas by identifying gaps in knowledge and skills through learning and teaching.

The 6th European Commission Conference 'Sustaining Europe's Cultural Heritage: From Research to Policy' was organised by CSH and was held in London, between 1-3 September 2004.
