Mr Ciaran Healy
|Consultan Plastic Surgeon at the Wellington Hospital|
Upon graduating from Trinity College Dublin medical school in 1981
Mr Healy gained experience in a range of surgical specialties prior to commencing training as a Plastic Surgeon. After initially working in Burns and Plastic Surgery Units in South Wales, Bristol and London, he spent two years in full time research into nerve injuries at the Middlesex Hospital Institute of Neurological Studies. This led to a prize winning project for which Mr Healy was awarded a Medical Doctorate.
Recommencing Plastic Surgical training at
Addenbrooke's Hospital, he was appointed as a
Tutor in Anatomy at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge. Mr Healy
completed his training across London hospitals including Mount Vernon,
UCLH, Great Ormond Street, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in
Stanmore and The Hand Clinic at Windsor.
St Thomas' Hospital in 1996 as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Healy
has continued his professional training by attending meetings and
courses and visiting other specialists in their units at home and
Healy's current practice at the Wellington Hospital includes
Cosmetic Surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty) and face (endoscopic brow
lift, Coleman fat injection to the cheek and lips, face and neck lift
etc) breast (enlargement and reduction), tummy tuck, lipo-suction and
post obesity correction.
As Plastic Surgeon to the
Melanoma and Facial Skin Cancer teams at St Thomas' Hospital, Mr Healy
uses Cosmetic surgery techniques while repairing the damage caused by
cancer, particularly to the nose and face.
Mr Healy's interest in peripheral nerve injury continues as he runs hand surgery clinics at both the Wellington and St Thomas's Hospitals. Mr Healy performs carpal tunnel decompressions, Dupuytrens contracture release and general hand surgery procedures. Mr Healy's second decade in consultant practice has been enlivened by his role as Royal College of Surgeons Plastic Surgery Tutor. This involves working with his colleagues throughout the country in the development and delivery of higher surgical training in plastic surgery, ensuring that the next generation will have the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, expert cosmetic and plastic surgery care.
