National Medical Laser Centre

The National Medical Laser Centre is most concerned that all our work should be to the highest possible standards.

Dr Laurence Lovat and his team are one of only four sites in the UK trialling the new cytospone as part of a Cancer Research UK funded trial.  This test could become a simple screening test to detect Barrett's oesophagus in the general population.

In the past few months, Julie Wang, Elnaz Yaghini, and Jason Dunn have completed their PhDs. Julie finished her PhD on Photochemical Internalisation, and has since gained a position at the School of Pharmacy. Elnaz received her PhD in January for her thesis entitled “Biological and spectroscopic studies of fluorescent nanoparticles”.

The prize for the best poster presentation at the British Society of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting Poster Session was won by Dr Jason Dunn for his work on DNA ploidy abnormalities.

The charity Heartburn Cancer Awareness and Support held its launch reception which was hosted by Dr Lovat at UCL.
