Charles Laine: tragedy

We are terribly sad to announce news of the death of a former student, Mr Charles Laine (2008, History and Philosophy of Science). He was involved in a road accident in August in Thailand, and he died of his injuries.

Rethinking assessment
Dr Chiara Ambrosio (UCL Science and Technology Studies) is using creative forms of alternative assessment in her Science, Art and Philosophy course. In this short film, made by UCL Communications, Dr Ambrosio describes how students conduct a literature review, create a poster and present their findings to their peers. This form of assessment engages a wide range of skills and challenges students beyond the traditional modes of essays and examinations.
