HPSC1006 is a survey of major themes in the history of the life sciences between 1750 and approximately 1920. Emphasis will be on key intellectual developments, historical contexts, the entanglement of biological research with other activities, and the role biological knowledge has played in understanding the human condition. No prerequisites; no readings required prior to the start of this course.
