Scientists rescue visual function in rats using Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells

An international team led by Pete Coffey at University College London and Dennis Clegg at University of California Santa Barbara has rescued visual function in laboratory rats with eye disease by using induced pluripotent stem cells.

Prof Peter Coffey Their research, published in two articles in PLoS One and Stem Cells, shows the potential for stem cell-based therapies to treat age-related macular degeneration in humans.
