Op-Ed - Universities should maximize their role as city-builders
8 May 2014
Dr Jean-Paul Addie, UCL STEaPP Provost Fellow and Roger Keil, Professor of Environmental Studies at York University, write for University Affairs on the link between Canadian universities and the cities in which they are situated.
Jean-Paul and Roger discuss the potential for universities to help shape both economic development and civic agendas through knowledge mobilisation activities, satellite teaching campuses and public engagement. They suggest that particular attention must be given to rapid sociospatial change in suburban areas in order for university-city linkages to effectively meet the challenges of higher education provision in globalizing cities.
