All undergraduate programmes offered by the Department of
Statistical Science except for LG13 (Economics and Statistics) and GN32 (Statistics
and Management for Business) are accredited by the Royal Statistical Society as being of the appropriate breadth and depth to provide a foundation for a career as a professional statistician.
Graduates obtaining second class honours or better will automatically qualify for the RSS Graduate Statistician
(GradStat) award. This award is a stepping stone to full professional membership of the RSS and the Chartered Statistician (CStat) award. More details can be found at the Royal Statistical Society.
For the BSc in Statistics, Economics and Finance, the BSc in Statistics, Economics and a Language, the BSc in Mathematics and Statistical Science and the MSci in Statistical Science this requires that students take at least 50% of all their studies in the two final years in Statistics.
Graduates of the Economics and Statistics BSc (LG13) and the Statistics and Management for Business BSc (GN32) may also qualify on a casewise basis provided they have chosen a sufficient number of statistics units as part of their degree.
