6-7 studentships available for applicants from UK/EU for the MSc in Statistics programme 2012-13

3 January 2012

The department of Statistical Science has recently secured funding from the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) to cover tuition fees for 6-7 MSc students from the UK or EU, for the academic year 2012-13.

Priority will be given to students with a potential and intent to proceed to PhD studies at a Statistics or a related area, either at UCL or elsewhere in the UK, after the completion of their MSc.

Applicants wishing to be considered for this source of funding should specify this on their application, and should include a paragraph in their personal statement indicating their possible research interests and future plans.

Applicants should be aware that although these awards are intended to encourage students who are considering statistics research as a career, they cover only the tuition fees for the MSc program: funding for any subsequent PhD will need to be sought from other sources.

The Statistical Science department provides a limited number (typically one or two per year) of three-year Teaching Assistantships to fund PhD students.

A recipient of one of these MSc awards who performed very well in the MSc would be a strong candidate for one of these Teaching Assistantships.
