Data-analytic methods developed by the Department's Statistics in Sports and Health Research Group have been instrumental in the optimisation of the training schedules of English Institute of Sport (EIS) supported, gold medal winning athletes at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Dr Ricardo Silva to give a Distinguished Lecture at the Center for Causal Discovery, Pittsburgh, PA

Dr Ricardo Silva will give a Distinguished Lecture on 15 September 2016 at the Pittsburgh Center for Causal Discovery. The center is led by Drs Gregory Cooper, Ivet Bahar, Jeremy Berg, and Clark Glymour, and represents a partnership among data scientists from the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) who will develop the algorithms, software, and system architecture needed by biomedical scientists seeking to discover and represent causality using their large and diverse data sets.
