Dr Gianluca Baio has given an invited lecture on "Introduction to Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation" at the Bayes Pharma 2013 conference, in Rotterdam.

The MRC funded project "The regression discontinuity design: a novel approach to evaluating the effects of drugs and treatments in primary care" will officially begin in September 2013 when Dr Aidan O'Keeffe (currently at MRC Biostatistics Unit) will join as Research Associate. Dr O'Keeffe will be based in the department and will work under the supervision of Dr Gianluca Baio.

On 8-9 November 2013, the UCL Department of Statistical Science will host a joint meeting of the British Classification Society and the Data Analysis working group of the German Classification Society with focus topic "Variable Selection and Dimension Reduction in Clustering and Classification", organised by Dr Christian Hennig. Everybody is welcome.
