Dr Gareth Peters has been invited to present research on risk and insurance modelling capital allocation methodology at the 8th International Conference: “International Competition in Banking: Theory and Practice”, to take place in Sumy (Ukraine), May 23-24 2013.

Dr Gareth Peters awarded UK-ASEAN Knowledge Partnership Mobility Scheme grant

This award from the British High Commission in Singapore will fund the travel for a one week visit to the National University of Singapore in early 2013 to strengthen collaboration with Dr Ajay Jasra. The scheme is intended to catalyse new partnerships between scientists and engineers in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries and the UK.

Team led by Dr Gianluca Baio awarded research grant from the MRC

A research team led by Dr Gianluca Baio and comprising researchers from the London School of Economics, UCL Population and Primary Care and the MRC Biostatistics Unit has been awarded a research grant from the Medical Research Council. The project entitled "The regression discontinuity design: a novel approach to evaluating the effects of drugs and treatments in primary care" will commence in 2013, with a proposed duration of 30 months. The grant will provide for a new post-doctoral research associate to be employed within the department.

Dr James Nelson awarded research contract with Atlas Elektronik

In collaboration with Seebyte and Atlas Elektronik, this project will fund a research associate to develop new anomaly detection and semi-supervised learning methods for underwater acoustics.

Dr James Nelson awarded fully funded 4 year studentship in statistical signal processing and machine learning

In association with the UCL Security Science Doctoral Research Training Centre and funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, the award will fund multivariate statistical and machine learning methodology for the analysis of network traffic measurement data and detection of hostile cyber activity.
