Dr Gianluca Baio invited to give a short course in Rome

Dr Gianluca Baio was invited to give a short course in Bayesian methods in health economics at the XVII Conference of the Italian Association of Health Economics, which was held in Rome on November 14th. The course was based on the book "Bayesian methods in health economics" authored by Dr Baio which has just been released by CRC Press.

Professor Valerie Isham jointly awarded Australian Research Council Grant

Professor Valerie Isham is a Partner Investigator on a Discovery Project just awarded by the Australian Research Council. The research project Statistical methodology for events on a network, with application to road safety will develop powerful new statistical methodology for analysing events on a network, such as road traffic accidents. The results will be transferrable to a broad range of other applications including street crime, electrical and communications networks, rivers, airline routes and brain networks.

Dr Gareth Peters joins Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance

Dr Gareth Peters has been selected to become a Research Fellow at the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance. The post is tenable for one year, commencing in December 2012, and will involve collaborating and exchanging research discussions with academics in the Institute's financial mathematics group, supervising students in the group and participating in its research activities.

Dr Nikolaos Kantas and Dr Gareth Peters speak at the Ecole Polytechnique

Dr Nikolaos Kantas and Dr Gareth Peters were invited to present recent research on particle filtering methods at an international workshop on computational methods in financial mathematics which took place at the Ecole Polytechnique in October 2012.

Dr Gareth Peters invited to speak at the University of Lille

Dr Gareth Peters has been invited to talk about the development of alpha-stable processes for interference modeling in wireless communications at a workshop on heavy tailed processes in communications taking place at the University of Lille 1 in December 2012.
