Ukraine is seeing significant changes to its education system following the Maidan revolution in February 2014.  In the words of the Minister, the Government of Ukraine wants “to ensure that the education system corresponds to the needs of a modern economy and promotes Ukraine’s integration into international scientific activities.  The goals of this reform are quality education and equal opportunity”.

Dr Serhiy Kvit was appointed Minister of Education and Science in 2014. Prior to his appointment, he was Dean of the Department of Social Sciences and Social Technologies at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (2002-2007), and was later elected its President  (2007-2014).  

Serhiy Kvit graduated from the Department of Journalism, Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and was Director of the School of Journalism at “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” from 2001 to 2007. 

His areas of interest are philosophy, hermeneutics, mass communication, and university management.
