Terms of Reference

Subject to any general or particular direction that may from time to time be given by the Academic Committee, the Joint Staff Student Committee is charged by Council:

  1. To consider any matters affecting the relations of the student body with UCL and to determine, monitor and review mechanisms for promoting such relations, subject to the terms of reference of other committees on which there is student representation; and, where appropriate, to make recommendations thereon to the Academic Committee. (The Committee shall not consider matters affecting an individual student if they are of a disciplinary nature or if they refer to his or her academic progress, whilst matters affecting the welfare of a student shall be referred in the first place to the appropriate Tutor.)
  2. To monitor and receive the Minutes of Staff Student Consultative Committees, and take action where necessary.
  3. To receive for information data from internal and external student feedback surveys and to refer any issues to the Student Experience Forum and Academic Committee, as necessary.
  4. To receive for information the annual Student Feedback Overview Report, following its submission to, and consideration by, the Student Experience Forum and Academic Committee.
  5. To report to the Academic Committee by (i) submission of an annual report to Academic Committee on the work of the Committee in the preceding 12 months, and (ii) submission to the Academic Committee officers of the Minutes of each meeting of the Joint Staff Student Committee.
