About this course

The course will provide an introduction to quantitative methods including: data analysis and presentation, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics (Chi Square, correlation, ANOVA, etc) and regression models (OLS and logit/probit models). Students will be trained in statistical software (Stata) to produce original research and evaluate the use of statistics in published research.

By the end of the course, students should be able to understand basic quantitative research methods, demonstrate competence in performing statistical analyses using Stata, apply quantitative methods to real world problems, evaluate their use in published research and employ these methods (where appropriate) in their dissertation research.

The assessment for this course is one 3,000 word assignment which will be completed outside of class.
