MA Legal and Political Theory, 2011–2012

Temitayo Ogunye, MA Legal and Political Theory, 2011–2012.

I was enrolled on the MA Legal and Political Theory programme at SPP from September 2011-September 2012, after having received my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Politics from Manchester University in 2010. I decided to enroll on the course because I wanted to further explore my already strong interest in Political Theory and Philosophy and I can honestly say that it was probably the most stimulating and challenging academic experience I’ve had. Indeed, I enjoyed it so much that I plan to pursue a PhD at some stage in the future – potentially also at UCL.

Perhaps the best thing about the SPP was the atmosphere of high achievement and challenge created by the combination of a very high-quality of teaching from the academic staff and an able and engaged student community. My course in particular also benefited from strong links with the Philosophy and Law departments. SPP was also always a fun and friendly place to be around.

Since completing my MA I have gone on to work at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce (RSA) and I currently work for the Citizenship Foundation, two charities whose ideals and values I endorse and spent much of my time whilst at UCL debating (and still do). I would strongly recommend the MA Legal and Political Theory programme to anyone interested in  ethics and ideas, and how they relate to politics and public policy.
