Duties and Responsibilities
UCL wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow as cover for research leave available from 1st December 2013 to 30th June 2014. The successful candidate will provide teaching support and administration for the MA in Human Rights. The holder of this post will work closely with Dr Lisa Vanhala, the programme director, to ensure that the programme runs smoothly.
The post holder will be expected to teach a course in “War, Peace and Human Rights” and to co-teach a core course in ‘International Law and Human Rights”. The appointment also includes first and second marking of essays and examination papers, supervision of Masters’ dissertations, personal tutor responsibilities for term two and other usual duties of teaching administration. Key Requirements
Applications are invited from candidates with a PhD in human rights or an appropriate related discipline. PhD candidates nearing completion will also be considered. Candidates should also possess excellent knowledge of the sources of international law, the interplay between international human rights law, international humanitarian law and the international law on the use of force and be familiar with the central debates on peacekeeping, peace-building, the protection of refugees and internally displaced persons and humanitarian assistance. Previous experience of teaching a related subject at postgraduate level is desirable.
