‘Hinduism, Christianity, and Religious Liberal Toleration’

Start: Jul 3, 2014 5:00:00 PM
End: Jul 3, 2014 7:00:00 PM

Jeff Spinner-Halev
Many liberals argue that illiberal religions pose a particular challenge to the liberal state that must be combatted.  While illiberal religions are not to be outlawed, they argue that these should be excluded from college campuses, refused accommodations in schools and, when the occasion arises, should be scolded by the state.  I will argue that this view, which I call liberal imperialism, is insufficiently attentive to the demands of liberal toleration and liberal pluralism.
