Admissions
We admit around sixty undergraduates a year to study a wide range of degree courses on the basis of their UCAS form, performance at A-level, International Baccalauréat or equivalent.
The standard offer for our degree courses is an A at Spanish A-level, AB in two other A-level subjects and an AS-level pass in a fourth subject or 36 overall in the IB with a 6 in HL Spanish.
We do not accept ab initio learners of Spanish. If a candidate does not have Spanish A-level, then we will require the demonstration of an equivalent knowledge of the language.
Qualified applicants are invited to an applicant Open Day. They may in addition be asked to fill in a questionnaire. Our Open Days allows potential students an opportunity to get to know the Department and College, as well as obtain further information about the degree programme on offer, year abroad, student accommodation, and all about the many activities that take place within the department, school and university.
The A. Alcalá Galiano Prize and the A.A. Parker Prize are awarded annually to students in the first and second year who have shown special distinction.
Two Ernest Hecht scholarships worth £500 / year for three years are awarded annually to students from the UK who wish to pursue Latin American Studies.
