SpaceTimeLab’s research was part of the “Mathematics in the Real World” stand, shared with the Isaac Newton Institute (https://www.newton.ac.uk/), Turing Gateway (https://www.turing-gateway.cam.ac.uk/), Mathematics OR Society (https://www.lms.ac.uk/), ICMS (http://www.icms.org.uk/) and the IMA (https://ima.org.uk/). SpaceTimeLab research on display included an interactive mapping demo of crime prediction, and two posters on Oyster card user profiling and targeted advertising. The stand was very popular with people of different backgrounds, occupations and age, including many middle school students. Visitors were interested to see mathematics and computer science theories applied to real world applications such as crime prediction.
