Research Description

The principal objective of this group's research program is to define functional connectivity within the cortex and basal ganglia, how this changes during tasks (particularly those involving movement) and how this is disturbed in disease of the nervous system. We study both healthy human subjects and patients with neurological disease, particularly Parkinson's Disease. The group has pioneered depth recordings in patients undergoing functional neurosurgery and has recently begun to integrate these signals with simultaneous EEG and MEG recordings to give a detailed characterisation of subcortico-cortical loop activity at rest and during tasks.
