Every year the NHS surveys patients about the standard of care provided. But at UCLH, adult patients with congenital heart disease felt that the standard questionnaire did not really capture what was important to them. So, with help from academic clinicians they designed their own.

The team (Dr Caroline Fertleman, Dr Chloe Macaulay and Dr Paul Winyard) responsible for the new intercalated BSc (iBSc) in Paediatrics and Child Health effected a clean sweep at the London Specialty School of Paediatrics major teaching awards.

The Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre (DCAL) at UCL has just received a further grant of £5.5m from the ESRC to continue its research until 2016.
