Professor Geraint Rees
Director of the Academic Careers Office

Geraint is Director of the Academic Careers Office and is a neurologist and neuroscientist at UCL. He is passionately committed to developing clinical academic training in the UK and contributes widely to policy and engagement in this area both in UCL and nationally.

Operations Manager

Colby is the Operations Manager with responsibility for embedding education and training into the UCLH Biomedical Research Centre’s strategy. Colby also develops and runs innovative programmes to support the career development of clinical academic trainees at all levels. Prior to joining the ACO, Colby held similar roles at Cancer Research UK and the Academy of Medical Sciences.

Sarah Mackilligin
Clinical Academic Training Coordinator

Sarah supports a number of clinical academic trainees including the NIHR Academic Clinical Fellows and NIHR Clinical Lecturers. Through liaison with the London Deanery, Sarah is responsible for setting up cohort-specific training events and administers the NIHR bursary and MSc training fund.

Anna Hindley
Graduate Operations Manager

Anna is the Administrator for the Grand Challenges Studentship Scheme, the Wellcome Trust PhD Programme for Clinicians and for SLMS Graduate Funding.  An administrator with many years experience at UCL, she is keen to support individuals pursuing an academic career within SLMS.

Director of the Centre for Nurse and Midwife-led Research (CNMR)

Lesley is an experienced nurse, educator and researcher and supports nurses and midwives who are interested in research and in developing a clinical academic career. Her research interests include promoting dignity and improving quality of care, particularly for older people.

Anne Buroker

Research Facilitator, CNMR 

Anne is the Research Facilitator for the Centre for Nurse and Midwife led Research at UCL. She works to advise research strategies to nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals. She comes from UCLH where she oversaw the sponsorship review and approvals of research studies across a wide range of disciplines.

Gita Tailor

Research Facilitator, CNMR

Gita is the Administrator for the Centre for Nurse and Midwife led Research at UCL/UCLH. She supports both Lesley and Annie with the day to day running of the department by providing all the administration and PA duties. Gita is also responsible for the CNMR website.  

Veronica Ranieri
Veronica Ranieri
Joint Research Associate

Veronica is a joint research associate at UCL’s School of Life & Medical Sciences Academic Careers Office and Department of Applied Health Research. Her current research examines the perceptions and experiences of early career researchers in academic medicine.

Prior to joining UCL, Veronica completed her doctoral studies in Psychology, she has also acted as a health researcher and spokesperson for multinational organisations, charities and statutory bodies such as Amnesty International, the Irish Mental Health Commission and the Irish Health Research Board.
