As a dominant Western visuality develops away from the system of linear perspective on which it was founded, and towards the digital and virtual technologies of cyberspace, the idea of somehow replicating 'natural vision', so long the basis of this visuality's authority, is forced into new territories. The research sets out to establish whether a relationship with this visual system can be realigned through an art practice that explores landscape fragments derived from among other things, early proto perspective paintings. It is defined against the context of the genre of landscape, and considers how effective the appropriation of these previous spatial arrangements is in the production of a critical space that challenges the notion of 'natural vision' and its assumptions that objectify sight, and are linked to a capitalist reification of the subject.
