The 'Bronze Lab' is a research project that will take place in the Slade Workshop during the Research and Development week 11-17 February 2013.
For this research event, 14 Slade students have been selected to participate in the bronze pour.
The Bronze Lab aims:
- To investigate experimental approaches to the use of bronze
- To explore bronze processes alongside other metal processes
- To encourage the development of new research projects that may encompass a variety of media and processes - analogue and digital.
Bronze Lab is about experiment and research. The final artwork at the end of the week is important. The learning experience and development of the new processes to be used at Slade will help facilitate future events. This is the only planned bronze pour this academic year.
There will be opportunities for all students at the Slade to participate in and learn from 'Bronze Lab' in various ways through observation and documentation during this week of bronze-related events. For the timetable and updates, please check the Bronze Lab blog.
