Katie Paterson has created four installations for the Orchard Street windows at Selfridges London as part of their No Noise campaign. Light bulb to Simulate Moonlight, 100 Billion Suns, All the Dead Stars and Campo del Cielo, Field of the Sky are all showing at Selfridges, Orchard Street, London W1A 1AB, until 24 February 2013. Slade alumni are among those showing in Film in Space at Camden Arts Centre. Louisa Fairclough is showing Song of Grief and Bore Song from 6 - 24 February 2013. There also and artist's talk with Chris Welsby on Wednesday 6 February 2013, 7.00-8.30pm.

Chris Welsby is showing an installation of films and Neil Henderson is showing a 50-projector performance on 2-3 February 2013.

Film in Space: An exhibition of film and expanded cinema selected by Guy Sherwin, is at Camden Arts Centre, Arkwright Road, London NW3 6DG, from 15 December 2012 - 24 February 2013. See www.camdenartscentre.org.

David Blandy is showing Mobile Suit Academy, an exhibition of new work which will transform the gallery into a futuristic environment evoking the interior of a starship travelling through distant galaxies, at Peckham Space, University of the Arts, London, 89 Peckham High Street, London, SE15 5RS, from 18 January – 24 March 2013. Daniel Preece's painting, Power Station and Barges, has been selected for the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize. The prize was created in 2005 by the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and the Lynn Foundation to encourage the very best creative representational painting and promote the skill of draftsmanship.See www.lynnpainterstainersprize.org.uk. Following the exhibition In the Way of Being in Deccember 2012, which included work by alumni Alice Gomme, Will Saunders and Gabriella Sonabend, there is a review in the Urban Times and online documentary on Vimeo. The exhibition held in the former home and practice of the late Dr John Slome (1929–2012), was curated and documented by Gabriella Sonabend.

Antony Gormley has a solo show, Model, at White Cube, 144 – 152 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3TQ, from 28 November 2012 - 10 February 2013. See whitecube.com.

Alumni Ed Atkins and Naheed Raza premiere their new commissions at Jerwood Visual Arts (JVA) at Jerwood Space, 171 Union Street, Bankside, London SE1 0LN. Presented as the second part of the exhibition Tomorrow Never Knows, the new works will be on show from 16 January - 24 February 2013. See http://tomorrowneverknows.org.uk.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Liz-Anne Bawden, former Slade tutor in the influential Slade Film Department. An obituary is posted on www.thetimes.co.uk and further information about her role at the Slade and her subsequent work can be found in the Times Higher Education, March 1966.
