A black framed photo print on a white wall. It contains a badly Photoshopped image of Ryan Gosling vaguely helping a chef (an Asian person with in a chef’s jacket and hat, grinning at the camera) tend to the open flames from the pan on their left. There are more framed prints that have been cut off, revealing the chef also with Paul Mescal and Jacob Elordi.

Annie Lee – BA/BFA

Based in London, often in bed.
My practice spans cooking, pranking people, and holding (introverted) celebrations, with participatory performance, writing, and installation… amongst other media such as photography, drawing, printmaking, and ceramics. I am interested in relationships between people, bodies, and environments, and the normative ideas and frameworks that we encounter every day. My work uses humour, silliness, and discomfort to reckon with deep feelings of (not) (be)longing, otherness, and awkwardness. I approach making work with Rest and Care in mind, which often manifests itself in multi-sensory, ‘fun’, and very-hard-to-describe-but-hopefully-in-a-poetic-kind-of-way experiences.
