Alex Baker has been making machines for the past five years. Simply put machines are things that do things - an input results in a certain often unpredictable output, the process that controls this relationship can be seen as intelligence. The machines that Alex has made have varied from responsive devices such as remote control car drawing machines triggered by switches placed over a house, to live sound works where by for example the audio output is controlled by the physical movement of people holding microphones. Alex has exhibited widely as an artist at places such as the ICA.
