I make objects that refer to the natural world both in their form and the combination of natural and artificial materials used. They are deliberately hand made, embodying an attitude rather than a narrative, and working as large, dark, solid presences in a space. Their texture and form suggests a conflation of animal and terrain or an anthropomorphised view of landscapes. Sometimes they stand as solitary 'islands' and sometimes are contained or partly hidden by more structural elements, like beasts in the zoo.
