Cluster Arts Magazine Two.

(The ladies of the press* appear on the stage, tap their respective mics with their signature gloves and pearls, and say:)

“Your attention please!”

(The lights come on.)

While our inaugural issue “As Many Works As Dots” is singing its aria, behind the curtains the stage is set for the second issue of Cluster Arts Magazine, with an open call for submissions.

(One of the ladies describes an arc with a gloved hand in the direction of the backstage.)

We are looking for all things spectacularly lively and fantastically performative to grace the stage of our pages, and are open collating and collaborating with our participants for another adventure in print. In particular, we promote fresh, innovative work that captures the moment, stretching the boundaries of the performative page.

(Another gloved hand describes an arc somewhere beyond the stucco and chandelier firmament above.)

Being a duo and a double act ourselves, the ladies of the press* are calling for all things to do with ‘2’: dualities, duos, duets, reflections, repetitions, binary codes to, toos and so on. ‘2’ is not a theme but a starting point for second act of (a) play. Cluster starts from the blank page (and stage) for every issue, constructing the magazine based on the work we receive. As before, we welcome work in varying stages of progress to construct a dynamic dialogue between you, ourselves, and the pages of the magazine--though monologues are also welcome. We think of this as a dress rehersal of sorts and it is as much part of Cluster as the final outcome. In our varied roles as artists/editors/curators of the page we delight in binding together interdisciplinary works, and as before we are open to a variety of work, including (but not restricted to) paintings, drawings, sculptures, documents, actions, academic essays etc. Our previous issue was an A5 full-colour offset edition of 500, including 100 special editions with physical insertions. On the opening night, launch events are an extravaganza, opening up possibilities for your page-based work to jump off the page, or for those with time-based work to join in on the act.

Cluster is based in London and we would be delighted begin to have a dialogue with you in regard to the work that you may be interested in ‘pressing’ with us. While we are always delighted to see complete written pieces as well as visual material, please do not hesitate to come to us with an idea or proposal, however vague or concise it may be.

“If there are scraps of work that you would want to mush together like a guilty peanut butter and jelly sandwich, come forward.” Says one lady.

“Over to you! Let’s get this show on the road!” So cries the other.

(A spotlight beams towards the audience)

“And, let’s have some coffee...or tea for two.”

(The lights go down and the curtain goes up.)
