David Ingram appointed Emeritus Professor of Health Informatics at UCL

UCL CHIME is pleased to announce the conferment upon David Ingram of the title Emeritus Professor of Health Informatics at UCL, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the University and to the discipline of health informatics.
In conferring the award, UCL President and Provost, Professor Malcolm Grant, looked back on David's distinguished career which has included:
- Doctoral research at UCL on the mathematical modelling of biological systems;
- Work in the computing research programme of the National Health Service;
- Academic posts in health informatics, including becoming the UK's first Professor of Medical Informatics in 1989;
- Founding and direction of the UCL Centre for Health Informatics and Multiprofessional Education (CHIME) from 1995-2010;
- Leadership of numerous international projects in educational computing, electronic healthcare records and multimedia archives;
- Service as vice-president, trustee and patron of several national charities including StartHere and the Fellowship of Postgraduate Medicine;
- Leadership and membership of a variety of activities on the academic/health service interface, including the NHS Academic Forum in Health Informatics.
David has also been appointed President of the openEHR Foundation, which he co-founded in 2003 and led until 2011 as founding Chairman.
CHIME looks forward to continuing to work with David, particularly on the commercialisation of our research into electronic health records.
