AHRC funding
The Centre for European Studies has an allocation of one doctoral and one MA studentships for 2011-2012. The application deadline is February 1st 2012 and shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview during the week 19-23 March. Only candidates who have already been offered a place on one of the programmes will be considered for an award. If candidate wish to be considered for AHRC funding they are requested to indicated this on their application form when applying for a place at UCL by ticking the relevant box on the application form. The MA award will be made in the area of European Studies and includes the following MAs:
MA in European Culture & Thought: Culture
MA in European Culture & Thought: Thought
MA in European Studies: Modern European Studies
MA in European Studies: European Society
The PhD award will be made in the broad area of European Studies and in Scandinavian Studies.
Your complete application (including transcripts and references) must be submitted to the UCL Admissions Office by 1st February 2012.
UCL GRS/ORS scholarships
UCL provides up to 15 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS), available annually to prospective and current UCL MPhil/PhD and EngD students from any country. In addition it offers c.40 UCL Overseas Research Scholarships annually, which are available to overseas MPhil/PhD students and will cover the difference between the overseas and the current UK/EU tuition fees. UCL will cover the UK/EU fee element for UCL-ORS recipients who do not have any other fee funding.
Interested students should submit their scholarship applications to Dr Kevin Inston, Department of French, UCL by Friday 10 February.

Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities
Applications are invited for three 3-year research studentships in the humanities, funded by the Wolfson Foundation. The studentships will normally cover fees (at the UK/EU level) and include a maintenance stipend of £19,370 p.a. and an element for research and training costs.
Applications will be considered for students interested in undertaking doctoral research in the discipline of history, literature and languages. One studentship will be available in each discipline. Applicants should have an outstanding academic record, usually a first class honours degree at undergraduate level and a Master's degree from a recognised university in a cognate field of study to their proposed doctoral research.
Applicants must submit an application for a research degree to one of the participating departments in the Faculties of Arts and Humanities or Social and Historical Sciences. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday 1 February 2012. Applicants must also write to the postgraduate admissions tutor of the relevant department indicating that they wish to be considered for a Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarship.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in the second half of March.
