EMPA student Jayson Browder selected as Carnegie New Leader

Jayson Browder, a student in our Executive MPA programme, has been named a prestigious Carnegie New Leader by the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. He joins a select group of future public service leaders in the international field who will develop their skills through seminars, formal events, online dialogue, and analysis opportunities. The fellows also will have access to a platform to promote ethics in the global issues in which they are involved.

UCL Anthropology has launched a new joint Departmental Seminar Series this year.

Starting after the November reading week, three joint seminars have been scheduled on Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm in the Daryll Forde Seminar Room, covering research topics from all four sub-sections including Biological Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Material Culture and Medial Anthropology in the department. There will be live streaming in the student common room for each seminar.

Rani Spiegler elected Fellow of the Econometric Society

The Econometric Society has announced the election of 14 Fellows of the Society. Ran Spiegler is one of the 14 elected. The list also includes Simon Lee, a former UCL professor and frequent visitor to the Department.

Christian Dustmann presents new CReAM research on UK immigration

Recent CReAM research conducted by Christian Dustmann and Tommaso Frattini has revealed that European immigrants to the UK contribute more in taxes than they receive in benefits. This research has generated a huge amount of interest in the media with Christian Dustmann appearing on BBC News, BBC Radio 4's Today programme and BBC 5 Live as well as coverage in the Financial Times, Guardian.
