The Mortimer Market Centre is part of Camden Primary Care Trust, adjacent to University College London and University College London Hospitals Trust. MMC contains one of the largest genitourinary medicine clinics in Europe, with over 40,000 attendances annually including 30,000 new cases. The population served includes local residents (with a high proportion of young people, ethnic minorities, refugees and homeless people), commuters and those seeking specialist advice. Over 2,300 HIV patients are currently receiving care in the clinic; specific clinics are also held for patients with recurrent herpes, warts and chronic hepatitis; as well as a young men's and young women's clinic, and specialist psychology services. The genitourinary medicine clinic staff are a multi-disciplinary team which includes doctors, nurses, health advisors, psychologists and clerical workers.
The Mortimer Market Centre also provides outreach services for commercial sex workers and the homeless, for drug users (at the local Drugs Unit), young people (Brook & PULSE) and for families affected by HIV (Great Ormond Street Hospital). MMC has close links with the Archway Sexual Health Clinic, situated in the north of the district. MMC is also closely linked with the HIV in-patient unit situated within University College London Hospital.
