Final Year Italian Language
Course code: ITAL4040.
Course unit value: 1.0 cu.
This is a mandatory course for all students who are studying Italian in any Modern Languages and Modern Languages Plus combination, as well as for Italian BA students. The course presupposes successful completion of ITAL2020 and of the Year Abroad Programme. Students will attend a total of 3 hours per week. The aims of the course are: to develop a high level of knowledge of Italian as a medium of understanding, communication and expression; to develop the understanding of the structure of Italian and of the historical and sociocultural contexts in which it has developed and it is used; to study Italian as a gateway to other areas and subjects (literature, history, philosophy etc). and possibly further study at postgraduate level.
Assessment: one unseen three-hour written examination (75%); and one oral examination (25%). The three questions of the written paper are: essay, translation into Italian, translation into English.
ESPS students who are registered for ITAL4002 Final Year Italian Language for ESPS students (0.5cu) will do a one-hour written paper consisting of an essay (50%) and an oral exam (50%).
