Course code: FREN1001.
Course unit value: 0.5.
The aim of this first-year core language course (SS/CS/ML/MLP/ESPS/Fr w FS/[H w EL]/L & C) is to establish a firm grasp of basic grammatical structures and tenses and to engender the skills of comprehension, explanation and free production of written French in a variety of forms. The course is taught in French, and is available to non-specialist students from outside the department who have an A in French at GCE A level.
Satisfactory attendance and completion of the coursework are normally prerequisites for examination entry.
Assessment: one unseen three-hour written examination (100%).
Students must pass this exam to be able to progress onto second year.
