Hans Keilson Book Release

23 January 2014

A book on the German-Jewish writer and psychoanalyst Hans Keilson co-edited and with an introduction by Andreas Martin Widmann (UCL German Department) has just been released.

“Die vergangene Zeit bleibt die erlittene Zeit”: Untersuchungen zum Werk von Hans Keilson features contributions in German and English by leading scholars in German Studies such as Heinrich Detering, Rüdiger Görner and Carl Niekerk, among others. It is the first volume of academic criticism on Keilson who fled Germany in 1936 and lived in the Netherlands until his death in 2011. Hailed a ‘literary genius’ in the New York Times on the occasion of his 100th birthday, his work has now been translated into more than twenty languages. Details of the volume are available on the publisher's website, Verlag Königshausen & Neumann.
