For the majority of scholarships, you must be in receipt of an offer to be eligible for consideration. Please bear in mind that it can take up to four weeks from the date of a completed application's being received by the department for a decision to be made, and a formal offer to be processed.
It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that he or she applies in good time, to allow references to be submitted and an offer to be made. Applicants who do not hold an offer by a scholarship's deadline will be excluded from the competition for that scholarship.

ITALG019 - Advanced Translation from and into Italian
Value: 30 credits
Tutor: Dr Cristina Massaccesi
Teaching structure: Teaching will take the form of practical translation and of written commentary on the problems of translation encountered.
Assessment: One take-home paper (100%).
This module will focus on the specific skills of translating texts from
and into Italian. During the module, the students will have the chance
to work on various kinds of material, such as literary, cinematographic
(i.e. subtitles and dubbing) and journalistic texts. The module will
target the development of skills both in critical reading and in
interpretation, and it will promote an advanced understanding of the
translation process. Whilst the emphasis will be on the practical
aspects of translating and adapting a text, students will also be
acquiring a basic understanding of theories of translation as well as
the technical vocabulary appropriate to the area.
Preparatory Reading and Set Texts:
The study material will be provided to the students via Moodle.
