My main research interests are in the field of political philosophy and the literature of ideas in Spanish America. Future plans for publication include the monograph Utopia y realidad en el ensayo politico hispanoamericano.

I graduated in Philosophy from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá) and subsequently came to London to do a postgraduate course in early music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Following my studies in music performance, I obtained the MA degree in Area Studies at the Institute of Latin American Studies. I was awarded the PhD degree from the University of London in 2001.
