UCL MA Scholarships
UCL offers various MA scholarships. Details and deadlines are given on the pages Scholarships for UK and EU Masters Students, Departmental Funding (identified by department), and Scholarships for Overseas Masters Students.
Carlina Macdonald Scholarship
The School of European Languages Culture and Society at UCL offers one scholarship each academic year in memory of Carlina Macdonald, a former student of the Department of Italian, who graduated in 1991. The scholarship has been made possible by a generous bequest made by the Trustees of Carlina's estate. The scholarship will pay the tuition fee of a UK/EU student in full or contribute the equivalent amount towards the tuition fee of an overseas student.
The scholarship is open to students taking an MA degree in the Italian Department and to students on interdepartmental MA degrees who intend to take half or more than half of their MA credits in the Italian Department. Applications are encouraged from students who intend to undertake the MA with the Intensive Research option (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/silva/selcs/masters/degrees/index), in which greater emphasis in placed on the dissertation and preparation for doctoral research. Students from UK, EU and overseas are eligible. The scholarship holder is required to submit a brief report to the Trustees at the conclusion of their degree.
Applications should be made following normal procedure for taught MA
programmes at UCL. Deadline for applications that wish to be
considered for the Carlina Macdonald Scholarship is 1 March 2013.
Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Research Preparation MA awards
The School has the following AHRC award for applicants applying for MA degrees in the 2013-2014 academic year:
- MA in Language, Culture and History: Italian Studies: 1 award

Exceptions to this restriction are non-UK applicants who have resided continuously in the UK, without at any point being in full-time education, for more than three years before submitting an application to the AHRC. Applicants from non-EU countries are not eligible for AHRC funding.
The deadline application is 1 March 2013. For further information please contact: Patrizia Oliver (Postgraduate Programmes Officer) patrizia.oliver@ucl.ac.uk
