<rss:description> The 6th Annual International Forum (AIF) within the 17th German Congress in Crime Prevention (GCOCP) will take place on 16 and 17 April 2012 in Munich. The AIF will present lectures of international experts and current topics in the field of crime prevention. The AIF is held in English language with some parts of the German Congress on Crime Prevention which are simultaneous translated (opening and closing plenum). Also international guests can experience the exhibition (were over 200 institutions displaying their crime preventive work), and take part in the evening reception and other events (poster session etc.). Since the GCOCP is one of the biggest congresses in crime prevention with over 2.500 participants and a growing number of international guests every year since 1995 in different German cities, this is your chance to network and discover new approaches in crime prevention. <rss:description> A UCL and Camden Shares networking event Thursday 16th February 6.00 – 8.00pm Old Refectory, UCL Wilkins Building, Gower Street, WC1E 6BT Could you use some academic expertise in your work? Are you interested in working with staff and research students from University College London, one of the world’s top universities? If so, book a space at Creating Connections, an informal networking event at UCL on Thursday 16th February, 6.00 – 8.00pm. The event will be a chance to create new collaborations between UCL’s researchers and community organisations. Perhaps you’re thinking about doing some research into the impact of your organisation? Or need help with a health promotion campaign? Or are wondering about how to get policy makers to listen to you? Or want to help local residents tell the history of their neighbourhood? If so, UCL might be able to help. In fact, these are just a few of the areas where UCL and the community have worked together successfully – and we’re always looking for new ideas and new partners. The event will be a practical evening with people from UCL and across London’s not-for-profit sector. You’ll hear about other’s experiences of university-community projects, and have the chance to turn your own ideas into action. Camden’s resource sharing network, Camden Shares, will also be on hand to give advice about creating successful partnerships. The event is jointly organised by UCL’s Public Engagement Unit, UCLU’s Volunteering Services Unit, and Camden Shares. To sign up, email John Braime at j.braime@ucl.ac.uk </rss:description>

<rss:description> Do you enjoy making things, or want to learn how to? UCL Engineering is building a MakeSpace, a free access space where staff, students, and alumni from all disciplines can share tools, ideas, and skills. If you need to build robots, musical instruments, or want to sew a pair of MC Hammer trousers with sound-reactive LEDs, chances are you’ll need to learn some techniques and get hold of some equipment and thinking space. The MakeSpace doesn't physically exist yet, but it will be located at the bottom of the Malet Place Engineering Building. However, we won't be limited by a lack of a permanent space! We're going to have regular gatherings, where we work on some projects each week. The first meeting of the MakeSpace users will be on Wednesday the 25th of Jan , so come along and meet everyone else who want to build things, exchange some ideas, and learn more about this exciting UCL initiative! Location: Sir Eric Ash room, 9th Floor Roberts Building Time: 17.30 – 19.00, and then to the pub! Don't worry if you can't make this meeting, we'll be holding them every week from now on. Check out the website or Facebook for more.</rss:description>
